Display and examine query results
After you've executed a query, a list of query results appears on the right-hand side of the screen in the Query Results panel. This list allows various ways of displaying and examining the attributes and location of the features that meet the criteria of the query. You can remove the query results from the map by closing the Query Results panel clicking the Close button at the top right of the panel. You can also choose to create a new layer in the map of the set of results.
To display the attributes of a feature
- Select a feature in the query results panel. Note that the feature is highlighted in the map.
- Click the arrow to the right of the feature. The Query Results panel changes to a detailed attribute view, with field names and attribute values displayed for the selected feature.
- If an attribute of a feature is an URL, you can click the URL in the query results panel to display the web page.
To switch to a different feature's attributes
If the Query Results panel is showing the full list of features, click a different feature and then click the arrow to the right of the feature to show its attributes. If the list is already showing the attributes of a feature, click the up or down arrows at the top right of the list to move to the previous or next feature that satisfies the query.
To zoom the map to a feature
- Select a feature in the Query Results panel.
- At the bottom of the panel, click Zoom To.
The map navigates to the spatial extent of the selected feature.
To zoom the map to see all of the features
At the bottom of the Query Results panel, click Zoom All.
The map navigates to the spatial extent of all of the features that satisfy the query.
To create a new layer from query results
At the bottom of the Query Results panel, click More, then click Create Layer.
A new layer is added to the map displaying only those features that meet the criteria of the query. The query results are remain shown in the map as well.
The new layer uses the same symbols as the original query that the layer was based on. You may want to turn off the original layer, as all the features will be visible.
