Print a map
You can print your map directly from ArcGIS Explorer Online. The printed page will contain the following:
- The currently visible extent of the map, including any pop-ups that are open
- The logo(s) at the bottom right of the map, although the Navigator will not be printed
- All copyright and attribution information, shown below the map
- The title of the map
- A subtitle, derived from the map summary
- The current slide, when printing from the presentation activity
ArcGIS Explorer Online supplies the font for the text and the layout for the printed map. The map is drawn using the same resolution as shown on screen and may therefore not display well if scaled to a larger map display; the location and scaling of the map cannot be adjusted.
Using the standard Windows printing dialog box, you can choose:
- The printer to which to direct output
- The paper size
- Whether to print in landscape or portrait layout
To print a map
- Click the Print button on the left of the toolbar. The Print Preview dialog box opens.
- Click Print. The standard Windows Print dialog box opens.
- Select a printer, make settings and modifications as needed, then click Print.
The map layout is sent to the printer you selected.
The print layout is not editable; if you want to change the layout, for example, to pick your own fonts for the title or to add other marginalia, an alternative approach is to take a screen shot of the map with system or screen capture software and create your own layout in another application.
