To be able to make a direct connection to an ArcSDE geodatabase from a client machine, the Data Access Expansion
Pack must be installed and all necessary database-specific client configurations applied. For example, to make a
direct connection to an Oracle ArcSDE geodatabase, the Oracle Client (or Net Client) must be installed and configured.
Consequently this property does not guarantee that a direct connection can be made as it only checks that the Data Access Expansion Pack is installed.
