Uninstalling ArcGIS products
If the following products are installed on your machine and are a version previous to ArcGIS 10, they must be uninstalled before proceeding with the ArcGIS Desktop setup. All ArcGIS products previous to version 10 must be uninstalled before installing any ArcGIS 10 product.
IMPORTANT
ESRI strongly recommends that all sample and third-party extensions or plug-ins be uninstalled before installing a newer version of ArcGIS. Remove these from your computer before uninstalling ArcGIS products. Contact the distributor or manufacturer to confirm that they are supported with ArcGIS Desktop 10. If they are, you can install them again after installing ArcGIS Desktop 10.
- ArcGIS Desktop
- ArcGIS Desktop Developer Kit
- ArcInfo Workstation
- ArcReader stand-alone
- ArcGIS Engine Runtime
- ArcGIS Engine Developer Kit
- ArcGIS Server
- ArcGIS Server .NET ADF
- ArcGIS Server Java ADF
- ArcIMS
- ArcGIS License Manager
- Python 2.5 and PythonWin (not required, but it is highly recommended that you remove these)
The ArcGIS Desktop setup will terminate and display a dialog box if conflicting versions of these products exist on your machine. If so, you must uninstall each of them, then run the ArcGIS Desktop setup again to proceed with your installation.
As long as all the installed products are all version ArcGIS 10, they can coexist on your computer without conflict.
This utility displays a list of existing 9.x ArcGIS software that must be uninstalled prior to installing ArcGIS 10. This utility does not detect any third-party applications or extensions; those must manually be removed.
