Select events by geometry
The Roadway Characteristics Editor provides the functionality of selecting events using various geometries such as point, bounding box, polygon, line, and current extent.

To select events by geometry on the map, perform the following steps.
- Open a web browser and navigate to the Roadway Characteristics Editor.
- Click Select > Select by Geometry
Selecting events by a point
To select events on the map by using a point, perform the following steps.
- Select the event layer using the Event Layer drop-down list.
- Choose the selection method.
- Click the Select by Point button
.
- Click an event on the map.
The events intersecting the point will be highlighted on the map, and the records will be shown in the form of a table.
Selecting events by a bounding box
To select events by drawing a box on the map, perform the following steps.
- Select the event layer using the Event Layer drop-down list.
- Choose the selection method.
- Click the Select by Bounding Box tool

- Draw a bounding box on the map.
The events intersecting the box will be highlighted on the map and the records will be shown in the form of a table.
Selecting events by a polygon
To select events by drawing a polygon on the map, perform the following steps.
- Click the Event Layer drop-down arrow and select the event layer.
- Choose the selection method.
- Click the Select by Polygon tool

- Draw a polygon on the map.
The events intersecting the polygon will be highlighted on the map, and the records will be shown in the form of a table.
Selecting events by a polyline
To select events by drawing a polyline on the map, perform the following steps.
- Click the Event Layer drop-down arrow and select the event layer.
- Choose the selection method.
- Click the Select by Polyline tool

- Draw a polyline on the map.
The events intersecting the polyline will be highlighted on the map and the records will be shown in the form of a table.
Selecting events by the current extent
To select events by the map's current extent, perform the following steps.
- Click the Event Layer drop-down arrow and select the event layer.
- Choose the selection method.
- Click the Select by Current Extent tool
.
All the events present in the current extent of the map will be highlighted, and the records will be shown in the form of a table.
