An overview of the Cartography toolset
The Nautical toolbox's Cartography toolset provides tools that can be used to finish a nautical chart for final production. The Align Representation Markers and Generate Light Sectors tools are designed for the nautical community. Tools from the ArcGIS Cartography toolbox and Production Mapping toolbox have been added to facilitate production of nautical charts.

Description |
---|---|
Adjusts the placement of representations for overlapping point features on paper charts. This means you can align symbols for topmarks and radar reflectors with their respective buoys, beacons, and light structures on the map. |
|
Contains rules that determine the way features should be depicted. This tool assigns representation rules and builds calculated fields on features for symbolization and labeling using a predefined specification. |
|
Creates mask polygons at a specified distance and shape around the symbolized features in the input layer. | |
Creates light sector features for signaling equipment based on a specified point feature class. | |
Creates masking polygons at a specified shape and size at the intersections of symbolized input layers. | |
Computes the magnetic field at point locations for a date you specify. You must provide an altitude or specify a field of type double in your data that contains altitude data. The date must be between 1/1/2005 and 12/31/2014. The magnetic value is calculated using the World Magnetic Model. | |
Creates isomagnetic lines in an extent for a date between 1/1/2005 and 12/31/2014 based on the World Magnetic Model. The tool uses a magnetic field parameter and line generation method to create a new polyline feature class. | |
Creates a grouped layer of feature classes depicting grid, graticule, and border features using predefined cartographic specifications. Grid layers are ideal for advanced grid definitions which are scale and extent specific. |
