Converting the table format
Most of the basic table formatting for a graphic table element can be defined at the beginning using the graphic table wizard from the New Table dialog box.
The Table Format tab on the Table Properties dialog box displays a table format interface similar to the Set Table Format dialog box in the wizard, with the addition of the following options:
-
Convert to Interactive TableNote:
The Convert to Interactive Table button is not available for tables that have auto wrapping of columns and rows.
- Table Design
Once you create a table using the interactive format and have associated data with the table, it cannot be changed. You must create a new table element if you want a different table format. However, a table element created using the Item to Row or Item to Column format with the Auto Wrap Columns and Rows check box unchecked can be converted to an interactive format. But once it is converted to the interactive format, it cannot be converted back to an Item to Row or Item to Column format.
Clicking Table Design on the Table Format tab on the Table Properties dialog box causes the Interactive Table Design dialog box to appear.
- Verify that you are in layout view if necessary.
-
Right-click the graphic table element and click Properties.
The Table Properties dialog box appears.
-
Click the Table Format tab if necessary.
The Table Format dialog box appears.
-

The Table Properties message appears.
Note:The Convert to Interactive Table button is only available for an Item to Row or Item to Column table.
Note:When the Make content items equal check box is checked, the following message appears instead:
- Click Yes to convert the table or No to keep the table as it is.
