Populating the z-value with a surface
The z-values for features can be populated using a raster file to interpolate the appropriate values. The Populate Z For Selected Features tool allows you to specify the raster file from which you want to interpret the z-values.
3D Analyst must be installed to populate z-values using a surface.
- Start ArcMap.
- Verify that 3D Analyst is installed and the extension is enabled.
- If necessary, load data in the map.
- On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
- On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Z Management.
