Updating annotation

The Update Anno tool updates the selected annotation feature class for selected features or all chart features. It ensures that the accent bar gap and arrowhead of the annotation are the correct size for the map scale of the chart that the annotation is in. It corrects problems with the geometry of the text element of the annotation features and updates both feature-linked and non-feature-linked annotation. A non-feature-linked annotation's text is not re-created; however, the size is updated so that it is correct for the map scale of the chart that it is in. The Update Anno tool reports variable problems with annotation features, such as missing text elements, text element/annotation feature shape mismatch problems, and any errors that occur while updating the annotation.

To see how this tool is used in a data information management and chart production environments, see the sample production tutorials that are available with the Aeronautical Solution setup.

If there were any annotation feature layers whose geometry problems could not be fixed, a message appears asking you if you want to delete them.

  9. Click Yes to delete the layers with geometry problems or No if you do not want to delete them.
  10. Click Close when finished.
