Defining data as a draped layer in ArcGlobe

Redefining a layer category can be set two ways. You can either changing the role of an existing layer in the table of content, or you can add a new layer directly into the appropriate category.

If you already know you want to add data draped on a 3D surface in ArcGlobe, add it directly by simply right-clicking Globe layers, pointing to Add Data, then clicking Add Draped Data. Browse to your data and it will appear in the Draped layers list in the table of contents.

If you want to update the role of an existing layer, do the following:

Steps:
  1. Right-click the layer you want to reclassify in the table of contents
  2. Point to Redefine layer, and click Redefine Layer as Draped.
  3. The layer is draped on the globe surface.

TipTip:
  • Rasters and 2D features are added into ArcGlobe as draped layers by default.
