Defining data as a draped layer in ArcScene
You can redefine the role of a layer in Arcscene by editing its layer properties. To display your data as draped on a surface in ArcScene, do the following:
Steps:
- Right-click the layer you want to reclassify in the table of contents and click Properties.
- Click the Base Heights tab.
- If the elevation source data is already part of the ArcScene document and listed in the table of contents, select the layer from the Floating on a custom surface drop-down list.
- Otherwise, click the Browse button and navigate to the source single band raster or triangulated irregular network (TIN).
- Click OK.
The layer is draped on the surface.
Tip:
- You can change the default resolution of a raster surface to match your accuracy needs by clicking the Raster Resolution button and updating the values. The higher the resolution, the more memory that layer will consume.
- To use a terrain dataset as an elevation source in ArcScene, you will need to export your area of interest to either a raster or a TIN using the 3D Analyst Conversion geoprocessing toolset.
