About ArcScene display options
You can set options that control how ArcScene behaves every time it starts. These application-level options stay the same unless you change them. The options include settings that affect the behavior of ArcScene, the geoprocessing framework, tables, and rasters. If you are using multiple viewers, these properties will apply to all the viewers.
The following ArcScene settings apply only to the current document:
- Set vertical exaggeration
- Enable animated rotation
- Set the background color
- Define the illumination settings
- Set the coordinate system
ArcScene also supports a full-screen mode in which the application window surrounds are hidden. Press F11 to go to full-screen mode; press F11 again to exit full-screen mode. This mode is also available in ArcGlobe.
Reduce the 3D view extent
Reducing the extent of a scene can be a useful way to remove extraneous information and increase rendering performance.
By default, the extent of a scene is the combined extent of all the layers in the scene. You can change the extent of a scene to be the same as the extent of one of the layers or set it using specific minimum and maximum x,y coordinates.
Data that falls outside the extent of the scene is not displayed.
