Setting the disk cache format

There are two formats for disk caching: JPG (for minimum storage space) and DXT (for best performance). Generally speaking, a JPG disk cache format consumes less disk space and a DXT cache improves rendering speed.

Follow the steps below to specify the disk format for each layer in your ArcGlobe document.

Steps:

1. In the table of contents, right-click the layer whose cache properties you want to change and click Properties.
2. Click the Cache tab.
3. In the Raster data options, click the combo box and select either Jpeg or Dxt.
4. Click OK.

   The disk cache for this layer will be stored in the selected format.

Tip:

• Switching between the disk cache formats invalidates the existing cache data.
• The Quality slider in the Raster data section has no effect on DXT caches.
• Use the What's This command to learn more about any property inside the tabs of the Layer Properties dialog box.
