Defining a layer as a floating layer in ArcScene

Follow the steps below to redefine your data as floating in 3D space in ArcScene. Note that rasters and 2D features are added into ArcScene as floating layers by default.

Steps:
  1. Right-click the layer you want to reclassify in the table of contents and click Properties.
  2. Click the Base Heights tab.
  3. Click Use a constant value or expression to set heights for the layer, and set the applicable numeric constant or expression.
  4. If your features have z-values, then you could alternatively click the option Use elevation values in the layer's features.
  5. Click OK.
  6. The layer is floating.
