Symbolize by Non-numeric Field (Business Analyst)

Summary

Thematically maps a feature class based on a nonnumeric field.

Usage

• This tool generates a map designed to convey information about a single topic or theme, such as population density.

• Nonnumeric fields are used only when generating the thematic map. These values will be represented on the map as unique values based on the field used to symbolize.

• Nonnumeric thematic maps cannot be normalized, since they contain no numeric data.

Syntax

SymbolizebyNonnumericField_ba (InputFeatureLayer, Field, {UseSelectedFeatures}, {ColorSchemeParameterName})

Parameter	Explanation	Data Type
InputFeatureLayer	The input feature layer.	Feature Layer
Field	The attribute field used to define the thematic map.	Field
UseSelectedFeatures (Optional)	Identifies the features that will be used to generate the thematic map. True —Uses only selected features to generate the thematic map. False —Uses all features to generate the thematic map. This is the default.	Boolean
ColorSchemeParameterName (Optional)	A predefined color scheme for the thematic map.	String
