Serving raster data

Using ArcGIS Server, you can publish an image service using a raster dataset, raster dataset layer, mosaic dataset, and mosaic dataset layer.

You cannot serve a raster catalog directly. If you want to serve a raster catalog, you can create a referenced mosaic dataset that uses the raster catalog as its data source.

You can publish an image service using ArcCatalog or using the ArcGIS Server manager.

Steps:

1. Start ArcGIS Server Manager and log in.
2. Click the Services tab.
3. Click Add New Service.
4. Type a name for the service in the Name text box.
5. Click the Type drop-down arrow and click Image Service.
6. Click Next.
7. Click the Image Data Source browse button and navigate to the mosaic dataset that you want to publish.
8. Optionally, modify the Image, Catalog, Download, and Output properties.
9. Click Next.
10. Optionally, check or uncheck the options in the Operations allowed list.
11. Click Next through the panels, then click Finish.
