About applying seamlines and setting the feathering

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

When using the Seamline mosaicking method, the ordering of raster data is most northwest, where the most northwest image is displayed on top. The distance between the center of each image is calculated in determining the most northwest image. The diagram below represents the mosaicking order used with the seamline mosaicking method.

The order can be altered if there is a display order specified in the service table.

To apply the seamlines, you need to edit Default Client Properties on the Image Service Properties dialog box. You can set the default client properties to be mosaicked by the seamline and allow the client to alter this.

Feathering refers to the blending of the pixels along the seamline. You can define the width and unit (pixel or meter) and whether the feathering will occur inside or around the seamline.
