Generating seamlines using the Footprint layer

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

Using the Footprint layer, you can generate seamlines directly from the footprint polygons, afterwhich you can edit them.

A temporary folder is created and written to when generating seamlines. This folder, SeamlineGeneration, appears in the .ISDef folder. The contents should not be of significant size and will be deleted after the seamlines are generated.

Steps:
  1. Right-click the Footprint layer and click Generate Seamline > By Exporting Footprints.

If one or more footprints have been selected, you can choose to ignore the selection or to only use the selected raster datasets.

  2. Click OK.

A Seamline layer is added to the image service definition group layer.
