Licensing ArcGIS Image Server

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

Licensing is managed by ArcGIS Image Server, which reads the license file. All ArcGIS Image Server components check the licensing information from the server.

After purchasing the product license, you will have to register the ArcGIS Image Server product with ESRI. Upon registration, ESRI will deliver a product key (.ecp) file. This file contains the following:

ArcGIS Image Server checks for the existence of a valid license on startup and runs only if the key is valid. The Software Authorization Wizard appears when ArcGIS Image Server has been installed. Use this wizard to register with ESRI to obtain the authorization file, or use the authorization file to register the product on the machine. If you need to access this wizard at another time, click Start, point to Programs, point to ArcGIS, then click Software Authorization. To check the status of the licenses on your machine, click Start, point to Programs, point to ArcGIS 10, point to Engine 10, then click Authorization Summary.

Steps:
  1. At the end of the ArcGIS Image Server installation, the Software Authorization Wizard opens. Otherwise, to access the wizard manually, click Start > Programs > ArcGIS 10 > Image Server 10 > Software Authorization.

You need to register yourself with ESRI to receive an *.ecp license file. Copy the license file you receive from ESRI to a temporary location (for example, C:\temp\imageserver.ecp).

  2. Click I have received an authorization file from ESRI and am now ready to finish the registration process.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click the browse button and navigate to the location where you have saved the *.ecp file.
  5. Click Next.

The ArcGIS Image Server features that have been authorized are listed on the panel.

  6. Click Finish on the Software Authorization Wizard panel.
