Freezing a column in a table

There are many ways that you can tailor the organization of the table to make your attribute information easier to work with. Freezing a column is a helpful way to see how attributes for the same feature are related with respect to one or more key fields (that are frozen). When you freeze a column, that column is always displayed even when scrolling horizontally in the table.

Steps:
  1. Click the heading of the column you want to freeze.
  2. Right-click the selected column's heading and click Freeze/Unfreeze Column.

    The column is now frozen.

  3. Right-click the column heading and click Freeze/Unfreeze Column to unfreeze the column.
TipTip:
To hide a column, right-click the layer or table in the table of contents, click Properties, then click the Fields tab. You can then set whether or not a field is visible.
NoteNote:
More than one column can be frozen at a time. Follow the steps above to freeze columns one at a time. Multiple fields can be selected at once by clicking a field while pressing the CTRL key. Clicking the command to freeze a column with multiple fields selected will freeze all of the selected fields.
