What is a schematic rule?

Schematic rules are specific tasks that are executed during schematic diagram generation and update to either simplify the diagram content or create new schematic features based on its initial content.

Schematic rules are specified at the diagram template level using Schematic Dataset Editor.

Schematic rules work in memory during the diagram generation and update processes regardless of the schematic builder used to build the schematic features. They also apply on schematic features built from custom queries when these queries are evaluated at the diagram generation and update.

Schematics provides a set of eight predefined schematic rules that can be used to reduce/remove schematic features, relate schematic features contained in schematic diagrams, expand schematic feature links, and so on. You can also develop your own custom rules by using the Schematics API.
