Creating network analysis objects using Find

Prerequisite:

Features, places, addresses, and route locations that you find using the Find dialog box can be added as network analysis objects.

After adding an address locator to ArcMap, you can find an address and load the discovered point as a network analysis object into a network analysis class. Likewise, you can find a record in a table, a feature in a layer, a place from a Web service, or a route location along a linearly-referenced feature. The results from these searches can be added as network analysis objects.

Steps:

It is assumed you have started ArcMap, added a network dataset, and created a network analysis layer.
1. Choose the network analysis class that you want to add an object to by clicking it in the Network Analyst window.
2. Click the Find button on the Tools toolbar to open the Find dialog box.
3. Find a feature, place, address, or route location.

   • To find features, use the Features tab.
   • To find a place or address, use the Locations tab.
   • To find route locations, use the Linear Referencing tab.

4. Click Find to generate a list of matching locations.
5. Right-click the feature, place, address, or route location that best represents the one you are looking for and choose Add as Network Analysis Object.

   The feature is added to the network analysis class that is selected in the Network Analyst window.
