Using the Export To CAD tool

Use the Export To CAD tool to generate a DWG, DXF, or DGN CAD file from geodatabase feature classes, feature layers, or shapefiles.

Steps:
  1. Open the Export To CAD tool.
  2. Drag one or more feature classes or shapefiles from the Catalog window into the Input Features text box.
    • Or use the browse button Browse, navigate to the source data, and click Add.
  3. Click the Output Type drop-down arrow and choose a CAD format.
  4. Click the Output File browse button Browse, navigate to a folder, type a name in the text box, then click Save.
    • Or accept the default path and filename.
  5. Uncheck Ignore Paths in Tables if you are redirecting output to multiple CAD files using the reserved CAD field DrawingPathName. Otherwise, leave this checked.
  6. Check Append to Existing Files if you are adding this data to an existing CAD file. Otherwise, leave this unchecked to create a new file.
  7. Click the Seed File browse button Browse and navigate to an existing CAD file if one is to be used to specify layer names, colors, or other properties. This parameter is optional.
  8. Click OK to run the tool.

TipTip:
To enable Export To CAD to overwrite existing CAD files, click Geoprocessing > Geoprocessing Options, and check the box Overwrite the output of geoprocessing operations.
