Military symbol specifications supported by ArcGIS

Military features in ArcGIS are based on current versions of military symbology specifications.

For ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 2, the main symbol specification that ArcGIS military features are based on is the following:

• MIL-STD-2525C (and its related publication, FM 1-02 Operational Terms and Symbols)

Also supported are MIL-STD-2525B Change 1 and MIL-STD-2525B Change 2 in the following way: If a symbol in one of these older specifications was removed in the later version (MIL-STD 2525C) of the specification, and you have the symbol in your data, the symbol is still supported by ArcGIS. If a symbol was changed into a new symbol in the later version of the specification, when you add your data in ArcGIS, ArcGIS will convert the old symbol into the new symbol.
