Creating ArcGIS users on the Data Appliance
The ArcGIS users on your ArcGIS for Server 10 must be created on the Data Appliance for ArcGIS. The following instructions are for a new data appliance configuration on Windows.

If your Data Appliance for ArcGIS is joined to Active Directory, skip to the Creating shares topic in this document. For more information on Active Directory, see the Configuring Active Directory as the security store topic under Administering the server > Securing your system > Securing Internet connections and Web applications > Configuring Security in ArcGIS Server 10 Java Help.
- Log in to the Data Appliance for ArcGIS as administrator.
- Click the Start menu, expand the Administrative Tools menu, and select Computer Management.
- In the Computer Management application, on the left pane, click Local Users and Groups to expand the tree, and click the Users folder. On the main pane, right-click and select New User. The New User wizard displays.
- Use the New User wizard to create the following
