An overview of the Cartographic Data toolset

Cartographic data provides the foundation of production mapping and visualization. Tools in this toolset allow you to perform advanced cartographic data manipulation like creating polygon features from contour lines, generating maximum elevation values within a grid cell, and generalizing stream data.

Toolset	Description
Banding	The Banding toolset contains tools that generate polygon bands from input features like contours or rasters.
Elevation	The Elevation toolset contains a tool that calculates the highest known terrain or vertical obstruction in a cell.
Generalization	This toolset provides tools to generalize data for display.
Magnetic	The tools in the Magnetic toolset allow you to calculate magnetic field values, such as declination and horizontal strength, and store them in your data or use them to generate isolines on maps. The magnetic field values are calculated using the World Magnetic Model.
