Populating an instance in an enterprise environment

Once you have implemented your product, you can populate it with data. If you are working in an enterprise production environment, this involves a process in ArcMap called populate instance.

The populate instance process performs an extraction using the AOIs and definition queries that you set. Once the data is extracted, additional processing in the production database is performed. This includes registering appropriate feature classes and tables as versioned, enabling archiving for appropriate feature classes and tables, creating CM and URGENT versions, establishing replicas, running the product refresher process, and allowing you to define DSNM, DSSI, DSPM, and DSID fields.

Schritte:
  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. If necessary, open the Product Library window by clicking Customize > Production > Product Library on the main menu.

  3. Navigate to the product instance you want to populate.
  4. Right-click the product instance and click Populate Instance.

    The populate process begins, and the Check Out dialog box appears.

  5. Click the ellipsis button (...) and choose a location to save the database.
  6. Click Open once you have chosen a folder.

    Do not check the Open check box.

  7. Click OK on the Check Out dialog box for populate to continue.

    After a few minutes, the New Product dialog box appears.

    This is where you define the name of the S-57 file, which can be different than the product name you established on the product library tree. This information is stored in the PLTS_PRODUCT table.

  8. Click the Product drop-down arrow and choose either ENC or Chart.
  9. Click the Producer Code drop-down arrow and choose an option.
  10. Click the Navigational Purpose drop-down arrow and choose the navigational purpose.

    For example, the number after US in your cell's name; charts can use the cell name that best covers the chart.

  11. Type a number in the Product Identification text box.

    For example, the five characters that come after the US#; see below.

  12. If necessary, type a comment in the Comment text box.
  13. Click OK.

    The Metadata dialog box opens.

    Most of the fields will have default values set. You can edit the fields if the default values are not acceptable for your product.

  14. Click in the cell next to the Compilation scale of data field under the DSPM section.
  15. Type the compilation scale of data for your product.
  16. Verify that the Coordinate multiplication factor is 10000000 (10 million).

  17. You may need to choose different values than the default values for the Sounding Datum, Units in depth measurement, Units in height measurement, Units in positional accuracy, and Vertical Datum fields, depending on the DSPM table's attributes for your product.
  18. Click OK.

    The Running Product Refresher processes dialog box appears, and populate continues. At the end of the populate process, a message box appears informing you that the populate process was successful.

  19. Click OK.
