Populating the GUID field

The Populate GUID tool checks the values in the specified global unique identifier (GUID) field for the feature classes in the table of contents. If the GUID field is not populated with a GUID or the value is not unique, the tool populates the field correctly.

This tool is used when data has been collected using a program other than ArcGIS or to ensure all your GUIDs are valid. By default, the tool validates any field named GFID. You can add additional fields to be validated on the Editing pane on the Production Properties dialog box.

Schritte:
  1. Start ArcMap.
    TippTipp:

If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. If necessary, load data in the map.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing Advanced.
  4. On the Production Editing Advanced toolbar, click More Editing Tools Populate GUID.

Progress information appears in the status bar at the bottom of ArcMap. When the process is finished, a message box appears that indicates how many GUIDs have been updated.

  5. Click OK.
