Updating data sources for batch jobs using the Update Batch Job Workspaces tool
The Update Batch Job Workspaces tool allows you to validate and update the workspaces referenced by all the batch jobs in a specified directory. This can be done using the command regardless of the version of Data Reviewer that was used to create them.
This command does not upgrade any 9.2 Reviewer batch jobs to the current version. It only repairs the path to the databases.
The tool initially searches the specified directory and, optionally, subdirectories for batch jobs. After the tool finishes searching for batch jobs, it reports the number of batch jobs that have been loaded as well as the number that have no workspace or that had errors reading the workspace information. All the workspaces referenced by the batch jobs are listed in the top portion of the dialog box, and all the batch jobs associated with the workspace are listed in the bottom portion of the dialog box. This allows you to see the relationship between the workspaces and the batch jobs that reference them. After the batch jobs are loaded, you can change the workspaces for them as needed.
For each workspace, the following properties are displayed:
- ID—A unique number associated with a unique workspace
- Workspace—The path to the workspace a batch job is referencing
- Valid?—Indicates whether or not the workspace path is valid
- New Workspace—The path to the new workspace to be referenced by the batch job
You can choose to validate the workspaces after they are loaded. Validating the workspaces ensures that the path to the workspace is correct. If the workspace is valid, there is a check mark in the Valid? cell. If the workspace path is invalid, it appears in red text, and the Valid? cell contains a red circle with an "X" in it.
In the bottom portion of the dialog box, the batch jobs associated with the workspace are listed. For each batch job, the following properties are displayed:
- W.Id—The identification number associated with the workspace.
- Batch Job—The name of the Reviewer batch job (.rbj) file
- Version—The software version with which the batch job is associated
- Folder—The path to the directory that contains the batch job file
After the workspaces are updated, you can update the references within the batch jobs by applying the workspace to the batch jobs. This updates all the checks in the batch jobs so they reference the new workspace.
If you are updating a batch job that contains checks for database validation, topology, or z-values, the new workspace must contain the appropriate tables and feature classes. For instance, if a batch job contains the Slope Direction Change (Monotonicity) check, the workspace needs to have feature classes that are z-enabled.
