Opening and editing an existing image service definition
You edit an image service definition in ArcMap. It is recommended that you back up the folder before you make any edits to an image service definition, since you cannot undo any edits.
When you edit an image service definition, you can do any of the things you did when you originally created the service, including
- Redefining properties of an image service definition
- Adding or removing rasters
- Defining properties for each raster dataset
- Building and compiling the image service definition
You can also use the Edit Raster Properties Wizard to make multiple types of edits at a time to the following:
- Click the Add Data button on the Standard toolbar.
- Navigate to the image service definition folder on the Open dialog box.
- Click the image service definition (.ISDef).
-
Click Add.
The selected image service definition opens in ArcMap.
Now you can change the properties, add rasters, and remove rasters. Then build and compile the service with the new changes.
If this image service definition has not been built, then the preview layer will not appear in the table of contents. To add the Preview layer, click the Image Service drop-down menu, point to Advanced, then click Build.
