Adding service overviews
Schritte:
- Click the New Rectangle , New Polygon , New Circle , or New Ellipse tool on the Draw toolbar.
- Draw a polygon over the area in the service where you want to generate service overviews.

Click the Image Service drop-down menu on the Image Service Definition Editor toolbar and click Advanced > Optimize > Service Overviews > Add.
This opens the Service Overview Parameters dialog box.

The following fields on the dialog box need to be filled in.
- Base Pixel Size—Base pixel size used to create service overviews
- Derived Images Output Folder—Folder to which the derived tiles are output
- Overview Factor—Factor to be used to create service overviews (Generally values 2 and 3 are used.)
- Sampling Method—Sampling method to be used to create service overviews—either nearest neighbor or bilinear interpolation
- Format—Format to be used to create external overviews
- Compression Method—Method of compression to be used to create external overviews
- Compression Quality—Compression quality to be used to create external overviews
- Tile Size—Tile size that has to be used (for TIFF) to create external overviews
- Type a value in the Base Pixel Size text box.

Click OK.
An Image Service Editor message appears,telling you that the service overviews have been added to the image service definition. You need to build the image service definition by checking the Generate derived images option to generate the overview images.
- Click OK.

Open the service table.
You can see the newly added service overview as a row in the table.
- Click the Image Service drop-down menu on the Image Service Definition Editor toolbar and click Advanced > Build.
- Check the Generate derived images option on the Build Options dialog box.
- Click OK.

Close the Service Editor Report window to display a message after the build is over.
The service overview has been added to the image service definition.
