Changing the function library currently in use

The Feature Builder has several properties that can be customized on the General tab on the Feature Builder Settings dialog box, including the precision of coordinates, the function library to use, snapping, and the spatial reference extent. The Functions and Libraries category contains parameters related to the function library and functions you are currently using. This includes options that allow you to change the current function library that is being used as well as control the appearance of the individual functions in the library.

  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. On the menu bar, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Feature Builder.
  3. Click the Launch Feature Builder button Launch Feature Builder on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

    The Feature Builder window can be placed anywhere in ArcMap, or in the TOC, with the aid of the arrows showing the possible placement positions.

  4. Click the Settings button Settings at the top of the Feature Builder window.

  5. Click General on the left-hand pane.

  6. If an interpreter is installed on your machine, click the cell next to Current Interpreter, then click the drop-down arrow in the cell and choose a different interpreter.
    This allows you to specify an interpreter that is registered on your system. The interpreter defines mappings between a data model/schema and Feature Builder geometry properties.
  7. Click the cell next to Current Spatial Library, then click the drop-down arrow in the cell and choose another function library.
    The Geodesic and Cartesian libraries are installed by default.
  8. Click the cell next to Projection System, then click the drop-down arrow in the cell and choose a different projection system to use with your functions.
    This allows you to choose the coordinate system to use with the functions. You can choose either a projected or geographic coordinate system.
  9. Click OK.
