Configuring a layer's fields

Layers with an ArcGIS Server dynamic map service, Spatial Data Service layers, and SharePoint list layers populate the attribute table in the bottom panel of the ArcGIS Map Web Part. This table can be configured to display specific fields and to have customized fields names.

Begin field configuration

  1. Open the Map Contents panel. For instructions, see The Map Contents Panel.
  2. Open the attribute table (see The Attribute Table Panel for information on opening the panel) to view the layer's records:

  3. Locate the Table button in the Configure group of the Layer tab on the web part's ribbonand click Table to open the configuration table

Visible field

When the checkbox is checked, the field will be displayed in the table, when unchecked the field will not appear in the table.

Name field

The name of the field in the originating table. The value is not displayed in the table and the field is not editable.

Alias field

The name of the field as it is displayed in the table. This field is editable.

Clear All button

Unchecks all the checkboxes in the VIsible field. When all are unchecked the button caption will change to Select All, which will, which clicked, check all the boxes in the Visible field.

Scroll Bar

Used to scroll up or down to view all the fields.

  1. Double click in the Alias field to select the text or click inside the field.
  2. Enter the new text and press the Enter key to save your changes.
  3. All changes will be applied to the table.

Change the visibility of a field on the table

To cause a field not to appear on the table, uncheck the checkbox in the Visible field. Conversely, to cause that field to appear on the table, check the checkbox in the Visible field.
