The ESRI Base Maps list determines base map service properties for ArcGIS Mapping components. The following table describes the effect of the list's key columns:

| Display Name | For list items with a Group Name of "ArcGIS Online," this determines the label that appears on the base map selector in the upper right corner of the Map Web Part. Note: This value should only be modified for list items with a Group Name of "ArcGIS Online."

| Group Name | Determines the base map group to which the base map described by the list item belongs. The available values - ArcGIS Online, Bing Maps, and ArcGIS Server - correspond to the values available in the Base Map drop-down menu. Note: This value should not be modified. |
| Is Default | Determines which base map service is displayed when new Map Web Parts and Location Map columns are created. |
| Url | The URL for the map service endpoint. This value can be modified for list items with a Group Name of "ArcGIS Online" or "ArcGIS Server." |
| Use Staging Server | For Bing Maps base maps, whether or not to use Bing Maps' staging services by default. For list items other than Bing Maps, this column has no effect. |
| User Name | The default user name to use for Bing Maps base maps. For list items other than Bing Maps, this column has no effect. |
| Password | The default password to use for Bing Maps base maps. For list items other than Bing Maps, this column has no effect. |
