Creating a Data Partition Action

The Data Partition Action works by mapping the fields from one data message to another. This is based upon the fields as defined in the source and destination dataset definitions. The source dataset definition is based upon the specific tracking service or connection that the action is associated with. The user then selects the destination dataset definition for the action. This may be the same, or different from, the source dataset definition.

Steps:
  1. Click the Actions tab in Tracking Server Manager. The list of message definitions appears in the panel.
  2. Click on a message definition and click Manage. The Action Property Page Properties dialog box appears.
  3. Click New Action. The New Action dialog box appears.
  4. Click on Data Partition Action and click OK. The Data Partition Action Parameters dialog box appears.
  5. Click the Dataset Definition drop-down and select the dataset definition that the incoming message will be translated to.
  6. Check the Replace Original Message check box if you want to replace the incoming message with the mapped message. Otherwise, leave it unchecked.
  7. Click the Mapping Editor button. The Mapping Editor dialog box appears.
  8. Configure the field mapping by clicking on field names in the Source Column. A list of the possible source fields that can map to each corresponding destination field appears. It can then be scrolled to select the desired source column. Note that it will only present those source columns whose data type is compatible with the data type of the destination column.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Configure the type of trigger you want to use.
  11. Click OK.
