Business and Facilities Search

Business and Facilities Search provides search options for business names, facilities or types. For example, you can search for pizza or use the name of pizza restaurants. You can search by a business name or expand your search using NAICS and SIC codes. Search results are shown on the map with options for your symbol size and color.

Search

Search allows you to search for a business or facility. For example, you can enter coffee shop or the name of a coffee shop chain, and the search results appear on the map. You can filter the results, select an icon, save it to a map and export to Excel.

Steps:
  1. Enter the business or facility name or type in the text box.

    For more search options, click Show more options to access the following.

    • To change the search extent, use the Search Extent drop-down to make changes and narrow your search results within a site. Sites that are open on the map will appear in the drop-down menu. The default is Current Map View.

    • To narrow your search, you can search by exact match or company name only.

    • To search by NAICS Code, type the code in the NAICS Code text box. You can use the NAICS code directory to find the code. Click the link to open the directory web page to find the code.

      When using multiple NAICS codes, separate them with a semicolon.

    • To search by SIC Code, type the code in the SIC Code text box. You can use the SIC code directory to find the code.

    • To select the search limit, use the Search Limit drop-down menu to select the number of results listed. The maximum is 5,000 results.

  2. Click Go. Go button

    The Search Results dialog box appears.

  3. You can refine your results with keywords or change the search extent.

    To refine the search results by keyword, type the keyword in the By keywords text box.

    To change the search extent, use the drop-down menu to make changes. Sites that are open on the map will appear in the drop-down menu. The default is Current Map View.

    This will update the search results on the right.

    You can also uncheck the search results individually by unchecking the check box next to the search result.

    To export the search results to Excel, click Export to Excel.

    Click to export the search results to Excel.

    Dun & Bradstreet limits the export of data to 250 records. Only the first 250 records will be exported.

  4. Once you've refined your results, click Next.
  5. In the Search Results dialog box, enter the name for the layer and click Save.
    Type a layer name.

    To change the symbol, use the drop-down menu to change the icon, color, and size. Click more for more pin icon options.

    Choose a symbol for this layer.

    You can also import an image by clicking Browse to navigate to the image on your local machine. The default is the pin.

    To import a custom symbol

    Click Browse.

    Select the file to upload.

    The icon appears on the map.

  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Search Results dialog box, your results appear. Click Done.
