Import Locations

Import Locations allows you to import Excel spreadsheets. You can import files with a maximum of 4,000 records and a file size limit of 5 MB.

When you add a point, the site menu allows you to add rings, drive times, or donuts, move the point or delete the point. Once you have added rings, drive times, or donuts to your point, you can use the site menu to get reports, edit, change colors, hide and show labels, and organize, compare, and clear the site.

Steps:
  1. Click the Research Market tab.
  2. Click the Import Location tab.

    The Import Locations pane appears.

    Click to access Import Locations.
  3. Click Browse to select the file that you want to import.

    Once selected, the file name appears in the Import Excel spreadsheet text box.

  4. Click Import.

    The Import Locations dialog box appears.

  5. Confirm the column headings that will be extracted from the selected file. You can choose from Site Name, Address, City, ZIP, State, and/or Latitude and Longitude.

    You can select the column for your label, which is optional.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Type the name of the layer in the Layer Name text box, which is required.
    Enter a category name.
  8. Select the location symbol. You can choose from the pin symbol, a shape symbol, or import a custom symbol. The default is the pin.

    To use the shape symbol

    Click the radio button next to the shape icon. A window appears for you to choose the shape, size, and color. The shape symbol is recommended for large file sizes.

    Click the shape icon to close the pop-up window.

    To import a custom symbol

    Click the radio button next to the Import custom symbol text box and click Browse.

    Select the file to upload.

    The icon appears in the Import Locations dialog box next to the radio button.

  9. Click Import.

    The Import Locations dialog box appears with the import progress results. Invalid addresses and multiple matches can be corrected in the following dialog box.

  10. Click Next.
  11. If any corrections are needed, for multiple matches and invalid addresses, you can make the corrections and click Find Again or click Ignore All.
  12. The locations successfully found appear and are all checked by default.
  13. Click Add Selected Locations.

    The symbol you choose for the selected locations appears on the map. By default, the My Layers dialog box opens with the newly added layer selected.
