Exporting symbology for shapefiles

ArcPad supports most of the layer properties and symbology supported by ArcMap. The layer properties and symbology supported by ArcPad are stored in ArcPad Layer files (*.apl) associated with shapefiles.

The Export shapefile symbology for ArcPad tool reads the layer properties and symbology definition for each selected shapefile, and writes this information into the ArcPad Layer file associated with each selected shapefile.

Steps:

1. Select the shapefile(s) for which you want to export the symbology.
2. Click ArcPad Data Manager to display the drop-down menu.

3. Click Export shapefile symbology for ArcPad.

   The symbology definitions will be added to the associated ArcPad Layer file (*.apl) for each selected shapefile layer. A new ArcPad Layer file is created if one does not already exist.
