Installing ArcSDE for Informix on Windows

Log in to the server as an administrative user and run the installation wizard to install the ArcSDE component of ArcGIS Server on Windows.

If you are installing ArcSDE on a different machine than the Informix database, see Installing Informix and ArcSDE on separate servers for additional instructions.

Steps:
  1. Log in as a user with administrative privileges to the machine on which ArcSDE will be installed.
  2. Close all applications on the server.
  3. Access the ArcSDE installation files.
    • If you have a DVD, place it in the appropriate drive.
    • If you have an ISO image, use an ISO extractor to access the files.
  4. Double-click the ESRI.exe to start it.
  5. Which version you install depends on whether you are installing on a Windows 32-bit server or 64-bit server.
    • To install the 32-bit version of the ArcSDE component, choose the ArcSDE for Informix (32-bit) option on the ArcSDE installation dialog box.
    • To install the 64-bit version of the ArcSDE component, choose the ArcSDE for Informix (64-bit) option on the ArcSDE installation dialog box.
  6. During the installation, read the license agreement and accept it, or exit if you do not agree with the terms. If you exit, ArcSDE is not installed.
  7. You can set the location on disk in which the ArcSDE files are installed or accept the default location.
  8. Follow the rest of the directions in the setup wizard to complete the installation.

When the installation wizard completes, you are given the option to proceed with the Post Installation wizard. If you are creating a geodatabase and have already created your Informix database, registered it with Spatial DataBlade, and created an sde operating system user, you can proceed with the Post Installation wizard. If you have not, exit the wizard and complete these tasks. Then restart the Post Installation wizard from the Windows Start menu: Start > All Programs > ArcGIS > ArcSDE > ArcSDE for Informix Post Installation.

If you are upgrading an existing geodatabase, do not run the Post Installation wizard. Instead, use the Upgrade Geodatabase geoprocessing tool or Python script to upgrade the geodatabase.
