With ArcGIS Explorer Online, you can configure a digital dashboard for your map. The map dashboard allows you to provide information about the features in your map, beyond the symbols used to draw them, in an easy-to-read fashion. The dashboard is displayed on the right side of the map.

Using the dashboard

When you open a map that has a configured dashboard, the Dashboard panel is displayed automatically. Select features by clicking them on the map to see the dashboard update and move your mouse over other feature to see how they compare to the selected feature(s). Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard to add or remove features from the selection, or click the Select Features button and drag a box around the features you want to select.

Configuring the dashboard

You can configure the dashboard for your map by adding and removing dashboard gadgets. Each gadget is configured to show information about one or more attributes for a feature layer and can display that information as pie, bar, and line charts; descriptive text; icons; and gauges. This feature layer can be based on a feature service hosted on ArcGIS for Server, feature service or stored in the map.

For the dashboard to be available, you must have one or more feature layers in your map.

To add a gadget

  1. Click the Dashboard button Dashboard on the Mapping toolbar to open the Dashboard panel.
  2. Click theAdd button (+) at the bottom of the panel.
  3. Choose the type of gadget you want to add and the layer whose values will be displayed by the gadget.
  4. Specify the properties for the gadget.
