Add or change a slide

A presentation consists of a series of slides, which are shown in the Slide Strip at the bottom of the screen. Click the New Slide button on the Presentation toolbar to add a new slide after the currently selected slide in the Slide Strip. Use the navigation tools to set the extent of the map which is to be shown in the slide, and if you want to show or hide any map layers, show a pop-up, or change the basemap. After adding a slide, you can then add a title to it.

To add a new slide

  1. Ensure the Presentation toolbar is selected, then in the Slide Strip at the bottom of the screen, select the slide that you wish the new slide to appear after.
    NoteNote:

A slide is not automatically selected when you click Presentation in the status area, so click a thumbnail in the Slide Strip to select one.

  2. Click the New Slide button; the new slide will present the map as currently shown in the main map panel, and will be shown in the Slide Strip with a thumbnail of the current view of the map.
Below, you can find out more about changing the appearance of the map as shown by the new slide.

To change the map shown in a slide

  1. Ensure the Presentation toolbar is selected, and in the Slide Strip at the bottom of the screen, select the slide that you wish to change. The selected slide thumbnail is highlighted in blue.
  2. Make changes to the map so that it appears as you want it to in the slide:
    • Change the extent of the map by panning and zooming, or by using other methods which change the extent of the map, for example, Bookmark or Find Places. You may need to unlock the map extent to do this; see below for more information.
    • Show or hide layers in the map.
    • Open a pop-up.
    • Change the basemap.
  3. Optionally, you can go on to edit and format the slide title.

NoteNote:

After you have set the slide's map extent, you can lock map navigation for the slide by clicking the Lock Extent icon shown over the top right corner of the map. When navigation is locked, you are prevented from accidentally changing the slide's map extent by panning and zooming while working in presentation mode, although you can still change it by using other functionality like bookmarks. Note that by default, a new slide is unlocked, and when you change the selected slide, this will lock the extent of the slide.
