Reporting changes using geoprocessing

The Change Reporter geoprocessing tool allows you to find changes made to individual feature classes or an entire geodatabase between specified dates/times. The changes reported are feature additions, modifications, and feature deletions. Once found, the changes are automatically committed to the Reviewer table for further review.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap or ArcCatalog.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Data Reviewer.
  3. Browse to the geodatabase location where you want the Reviewer records stored.
  4. Start a Reviewer session.
    TipTip:

It is highly recommended that you use the Use Default Spatial Reference (WGS-84) option.

  5. Click Close on the Reviewer Session Manager dialog box.
  6. Click the ArcToolbox Window button ArcToolbox Window on the Standard toolbar.

    The ArcToolbox window appears.

  7. Expand the tree view next to Aeronautical Tools > Change Detection.

  9. Click the browse button next to the Select Geodatabase text box.
    NoteNote:

The geodatabase selected must be SDE enabled and versioned and have geodatabase archiving enabled.

  10. You can change the beginning date and time by performing one of the following steps in the Beginning Date field:
    • Select a date by clicking the drop-down arrow.
    • Select a date/time field and press the UP and DOWN arrow keys on the keyboard.
    • Type directly over the default date/time listed.
    NoteNote:

Be sure to not set a start date earlier than when archiving was enabled on the geodatabase. This will result in every feature in the database being marked as a change.

  11. You can change the End Date by performing one of the following steps:
    • Select a date by clicking the drop-down arrow.
    • Select a date/time field and press the UP and DOWN arrow keys on the keyboard.

    • Change Type: Deletes (optional)
  13. Check the check boxes next to the feature classes and tables to be interrogated in the Select Feature Classes and Tables list.
  14. Click OK to begin processing.

The Change Reporter geoprocessing log displays as the tool runs, and changes are written to the Reviewer table.
