Digitizing a 3D point graphic in ArcScene

You can set the default properties such as size, color, and symbol prior to digitizing new point graphic elements. You can also set symbol styles and style properties. For more information, see Setting default properties of 3D graphics in ArcScene.

Before you can digitize graphics onto the 3D view, be sure you have added the 3D Graphics toolbar to ArcScene.

Point graphics are digitized as a single entry. For each successive point graphic you digitize, you must click the New Marker tool. To keep the drawing tool active to digitize multiple graphics in a row, click Customize > ArcScene Options and set the parameter for 3D Graphics Tools at the bottom of the General tab.

Steps:
  1. In ArcScene, click the New Marker tool New Marker on the 3D Graphics toolbar.
  2. Click the point on the surface or object you want to digitize.

A point graphic is drawn at the location you digitized.

  3. Right-click the selected symbol to open properties for that graphic. Change the symbol choice if necessary, as well as adjust size, color, and position.
TipTip:
  • Vector graphics, such as 3D models, do not support all layer effects. For example, per-graphic transparency is not supported. Transparency is supported at the layer level.
