Using the 3D Zoom In/Out tool

The 3D Zoom In/Out tool moves the observer position along the line between the current observer location and the target location in the 3D view. The observer cannot be moved forward beyond the target location, but there is no limit to how far the observer can be moved backward. This is similar to looking at a tree and walking directly toward or away from it.

Steps:
  1. In ArcGlobe, click the Zoom In/Out Zoom In or Out button.

The pointer changes to indicate the Zoom In/Out tool.

  2. If the 3D Zoom In/Out button is missing from your Tools toolbar, you can add it by going to the Customize menu and clicking Customize Mode. Click the Commands tab, search for the button under the Viewer Category, then drag the icon onto the toolbar.
  3. Click the 3D view and drag up to zoom out or drag down to zoom in.
  4. The observer location is moved closer or farther from the target position, which is maintained at the same location in the center of the view.

TipTip:
  • The 3D Zoom In/Out tool functionality is also exposed via the right mouse button or the mouse scroll wheel on the 3D Navigate tool.
