About adding ArcGIS supported raster types

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

The ArcGIS Raster Datasets raster type is used to add raster datasets supported by ArcGIS to an image service definition. Use this raster type to add formats for which ArcGIS Image Server does not have a specific raster type or in cases where ArcGIS Image Server does not handle the raster dataset in the same way as ArcGIS.

For a list of supported ArcGIS raster formats, see Supported raster dataset file formats.

The ArcSDE Raster Datasets raster type is used to add raster datasets from ArcSDE. To learn about adding ArcSDE raster datasets, see Adding an ArcSDE raster dataset to an image service definition.

The GDAL Supported Raster Datasets raster type is used to add raster datasets supported by GDAL. For a list of GDAL supported file formats, see Supported raster dataset file formats.
