Adding a new node or step

Once a workflow node has been added, other steps can then be added and configured.

New steps can be added directly beneath a currently highlighted node or as the last step of a highlighted workflow node. Steps can be promoted (moved up) or demoted (moved down) in the Task Assistant window.

For more information about step configuration, see Introducing_the_Designer_tab.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, click the Task Assistant Window button Task Assistant window on the Task Manager toolbar to display the Task Assistant window.
  3. Load a task assistant workflow.
  4. Click the New Step button New Step on the Task Assistant toolbar.

A new step appears in the Task Assistant window.

    NoteNote:

You can only add a new step to an existing workflow. When a workflow has not been created or loaded in the Task Assistant window, the New Step button New Step is unavailable on the Task Assistant toolbar.

    TipTip:
You can also add a new workflow step by right-clicking on the Designer tab and choosing New Step.
