Making sure all the labels for a label class are placed

You can guarantee that all the labels belonging to a given label class will be placed on the map with the Never remove option. The ESRI Maplex Label Engine will attempt to place the labels according to the placement properties first, and if a conflict-free position for a label cannot be found, the label will be placed with a conflict.

You should use this option with some caution. Since all labels from the label class are placed, there is no guarantee the labels won't overlap each other.

Steps:
  1. Click the Label Manager button Label Manager on the Labeling toolbar.
  2. Check the check box next to the layer you want to label.
  3. Choose a label class under the layer.
  4. Click the Properties button.
  5. Click the Conflict Resolution tab.
  6. Check the Never remove (allow overlap) check box.
  7. Turning this option on may result in overlapping labels.

  8. Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
TipTip:
You can also open the Placement Properties dialog box by clicking the Placement Properties button on the Labels tab of the Layer Properties dialog box for the layer you want to label.
