Adding and removing stacking characters

Steps:
  1. Click the Label Manager button Label Manager on the Labeling toolbar.
  2. Check the check box next to the layer you want to label.
  3. Choose a label class under the layer.
  4. Click the Properties button.
  5. The dialog boxes for point, line, and polygon layers differ, but the steps for setting stacking characters are the same.

  6. Click the Fitting Strategy tab.
  7. Check Stack label.
  8. Click Options.
  9. In a blank record, type the stacking character.

    By default, the space character and comma are already entered into the list. The space character is special and is typed as the word space in the list.

  10. To delete a stacking character, select it in the table and click Delete.
  11. Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
TipTip:
You can also open the Placement Properties dialog box by clicking the Placement Properties button on the Labels tab of the Layer Properties dialog box for the layer that you want to label.
