Labeling military features

Labeling is used to add text modifiers, which provide additional information about a military symbol, to features on your map. Military features use the Maplex Label Engine (as part of the maplex for ArcGIS extension).

The ArcGIS 10 layer packages that contain military features are available in the ArcGIS for Defense and Intelligence group on ArcGIS.com. A military features layer package comprises the geodatabase schema and the layer properties, which include how a feature will be labeled.

TipTip:

The default setting is set to show Web content only when you search at ArcGIS.com. You may have to change the setting to the show All Content option to see the layer packages.

The labeling properties for all of the layers are set for you when you unpack a layer package that contains military features. The placement properties of the labels for UEI features (unit, equipment, and installation features) and military operations features are based on military symbol specifications supported by ArcGIS
