Removing feature representation overrides

This topic applies to ArcEditor and ArcInfo only.

Representation rules dictate the way feature representations are drawn. If it becomes necessary to make exceptions to these rules for individual feature representations, each property of the rule can be overridden while editing. In some cases, it may become necessary to revert to the depiction of the feature as dictated by the rule after overrides have been made. You can do this individually or remove all overrides on the selected features at once.

How to remove a single property override

  1. In an edit session, select a feature representation.
  2. Open the Representation Properties window by clicking the Representation Properties button Representation Properties on the Representation toolbar.
  3. Click the Drawing tab on the Representation Properties window to see all the properties of the representation rule as applied to the selected feature representation.
  4. Click the Override icon Representation property overridden or the Explicit Field Override icon Representation property references a field and is overridden. to revert the property to the default value in the representation rule.
CautionCaution:
Removing the override of a property mapped to an explicit field (that is, clicking the Explicit Field Override icon Representation property references a field and is overridden.) will change the value in that field to NULL. The property then will follow the default value specified in the rule.
